About
Pietro Airoldi is an Architect and PhD in Design. Since 2009 he is running Studio Pietro Airoldi based in Palermo, dealing with architecture, interior and exhibition design, research in collaboration with cultural institutions and international organizations, such as Manifesta 12 and UNEP.
The approach of the studio is focused on the search for the right balance between new interventions and the context and the selective reuse of materials and spaces, inspired by the concept of “minimal intervention”. His works have been published in international design magazines and media. Since 2013 he has been teaching in Universities and Academies of fine arts and since 2022 he is full professor of Exhibition Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo. In 2023 he co-founded :After, a multidisciplinary group of professionals and scholars working beyond the traditional boundaries of architecture field. The group has curated a festival in Sicily in 2023 with the aim to enhance the local modern architecture through an interdisciplinary approach. He co-edited the book “Continente Sicilia 1922-2022” (Letteraventidue, 2024). In 2025 he has got a fellowship at the American Academy in Rome.
